Top 6 Places to Eat: A Guide to Santa Barbara

LOS AGAVES

Mexican food is my favorite cuisine and this gem tops many, many Mexican Restaurants I have been to. The menu consists of about 52 dishes and includes shrimp enchiladas, a la carte tacos, pollo asado, fajitas, and of course a lot of teKILLya. Might I add, you can take margaritas to go.

It is walk-ins only as they do not accept reservations. Additionally, they take orders online for pick up and delivery. Take full advantage of the chefs and get them to cater your events

They are located at 600 N Milpas St and 2911 De La Vina St. Three other locations are in Oxnard, Westlake Village, and Goleta. Check them out on Yelp, Instagram, and Facebook.

Salmon Tropical

Salmon with shrimp sautéed in butter, guajillo chile, pineapple, cilantro and Worcestershire sauce. Served with rice and house salad.

BLUEWATER GRILL

First of all, find you a table. Trust me. Oh, and you can order online for pick up.

Bluewater Grill was established in Newport Beach in 1996. They strongly believe in sustainably sourcing their seafood and make it their mission to serve resort communities in a casual way at a fair price.

Also serving Redondo Beach, Catalina Island, Temecula, and more. No two locations have the exact same menu and they change out items four times a year. Check them out on Instagram.

The Santa Barbara location is at 12 E Cabrillo Blvd.

Lobster Roll

Served hot buttered or as a chilled lobster salad in toasted brioche bun, with housemade potato chips.

Seared Scallops

With bacon jam, jalepeno aioli, cilantro, and chive oil.

FISHOUSE SANTA BARBARA

Check them out on Yelp, Instagram, and Facebook.

For their breakfast menu, they keep it very simple and serve a breakfast burrito, chilaquiles, French toast, and a traditional breakfast. The lunch menu has many more options to choose from, including, but not limited to clam chowder, barbecue chicken salad, seafood pasta, a raw bar, fried seafood plates, and grilled octopus. The dinner menu has a Scuna Bay Salmon, Macadamia Nut Crusted Sea Bass, Lobster Mac n Cheese, and a Surf n’ Turf.

What I ordered

I was there for lunch and had the:

Rockfish Ceviche

Local Pacific Snapper cured in lime & lemon juice with our homemade pico de gallo salsa, toss in avocado & served with crispy tortilla chips.

Lobster, Shrimp, Fish Tacos

Your choice sautéed with black beans, pico de gallo, & garlic. Served on two warm corn tortillas with fresh cabbage & avocado. Topped with our homemade taco sauce.

For a cocktail, I recommend the Lavendar Lemonade Spritz (if you don’t prefer vodka, ask to substitute it with tequila.)

OKÚ

I went here for my birthday dinner and the vibe was perfect. I did things family style and they did not disappoint.

They are located at 29 E Cabrillo Blvd directly across the street from the beach. They have a dining room, rooftop, and lower patio seating.
